whats the purpose to release facial lines its any specific conditions its uaeful
Here is a reply from Tom Myers:
Dear Ramakumar
The Anatomy Trains is an alternate way of mapping the human movement / stability equation.
As such, it is useful consideration - how is the body handling the load and movement balance? - in all conditions.
That said, Anatomy Trains is a map, not a healing method, so it has proven useful in many forms of manual and movement therapy. People with all different methods are applying the fascial lines idea to their practice.
Please feel free to make use of the ideas.
You’ll find some of these applications - Zoga, Anatomy Trains in Motion, Orthopedic tests, etc - on our website
Elsewhere around the internet you will find Anatomy Trains applied to various conditions, but not with our blessing.
The method we teach - Structural Integration - is designed as a general ’tonic’ for our neuromyofascial body, not as a remedy for specific headaches, LBP, sciatica etc. We treat the individual pattern the condition comes in - not everyone’s ‘frozen shoulder’ is the same.
In the course of a lifetime, we have random habit formation and injury response that affect how we move, we take on emotional tones that get built into our system. Our system of fascial and myofascial release is designed to restore normal tonal balance to the myofascial net, and thus calm to the proprioceptive and interoceptive self.
Our method is not aimed at ’symptoms’ or pathological ‘conditions’, it is aimed at general improvement of posture, movement, and somatic self-possession., a true feeling of agency “If your symptoms get better, that’s your tough luck” is one of our ironic aphorisms. Of course, pains and restrictions are shed along the way to reseting balance, but we are educators, not doctors, so we do not promise anything in terms of specific symptoms or conditions.
It is a noble cause to reduce pain and resolve pathology, and if that is your goal, we wish you well in it. There are a gazillion methods out there for reducing pain and ‘fixing’ things.
Our cause is different: a more humane, efficient, and aware use of our most proximate and intimate tool: our bodies in motion. From birth practices to physical education in schools to sports, medical, and social applications, we are in the business of preventing symptoms from occurring, and conditions from arising, by keeping movement healthy from the start.
So if you have undertaken the role of fixing things for your clients, please use the Anatomy Trains ideas to find the real ‘culprits’ of these symptoms, and not keep punishing the poor victims - sore muscles and joints - in hopes of healing.
If you want to join us in educating your clients on more efficient ways of being in the world, join us.
Sincerely
Tom Myers
