The Deep Front Line
Introduction to the Deep Front Line. Note: this collection contains dissection imagery that may not be suitable for all viewers. Discretion advised. Interposed between the left and right Lateral Lines in the coronal plan, sandwiched between the Superficial Front Line and Superficial Back Line in the sagittal plane, and latticed by the helical Spiral and Functional Lines, the Deep Front Line comprises the body's myofascial 'core.' Beginning from the bottom, the line has roots deep in the underside of the foot, passing up just behind the bones of the lower leg and knee to the medial quadrant of the thigh. From here the major track passes in front of the hip joint, pelvis and lumbar spine, while an alternate track passes up the back of the thigh to the pelvic floor, with the two tracks in effect gripping the hip joint fore and aft. The two tracks rejoin beside and at the front of the lumbar spine, where the psoas complex and diaphragm overlap. From the psoas-diaphragm interface, the DFL continues up within the rib cage along the viscera, ending on the underside of both the neuro- and viscerocranium.
